I was told by some of the auto store helpers that if your car can fit a longer oil filter you should use it. It filters the oil more with the larger one just as long as you keep the oil level full according to the dipstick. You’ll notice in the store the same diameter and female screw fitting on the recommended short oil filter and on a long oil filter.
